A police dog in Georgia is retiring after seven years of service in the The Marietta Police Department (MPD), the department announced on March 15.
The K-9, Jacquo, an eight-year-old Belgian Malinois from France, joined the force in January of 2016. And was partnered with K-9 handler Officer Powel throughout his entire service.
According to the Marietta Police Department’s announcement, “Jacquo maintained a full patrol police dog certification through North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) as well as National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA).”
This means the police dog was specifically trained and certified in narcotics detection, article search, tracking, obedience and criminal apprehension.
The police department also listed some of Jacquo’s paw-some credentials throughout his career, proving that he truly is one of the goodest boys out there.
One of Jacquo’s most notable credential is being deployed for more than 530 times, which lead to over 181 arrests that were related to what he was trained and certified for.
The post also highlights how the MPD officers who worked with him throughout the years found him “reliable, focused and tenacious”.
Furthermore, he also performed various school demonstrations and was also active in the public. One user even wrote, “My husband and I would see Jacquo and Officer Powell at times around the Square. It was always special to see this magnificent, alert canine officer. Our best to Jacquo in his retirement!”
The MPD thanked Jacquo for his service and wished him “plenty of rest, steak dinners, and belly rubs in his retirement.”
